non-human identity
In short: A non-human identity is an identity used by software rather than a person. Examples include service accounts, API keys, tokens, certificates and AI agents. Non-human identities often outnumber people and frequently lack owners, expiry dates or reviews, which makes them a common path for attackers.
Where does it show up in practice?
Several agent identity vendors, including Astrix Security and Clutch Security, started in non-human identity security.
