policy enforcement point

In short: A policy enforcement point applies a decision to allow or stop a request. It puts an authorization rule into effect before the protected operation proceeds. For agents it is often a gateway, broker or proxy between the agent and its tools. Without one, policy is only advice.

Where does it show up in practice?

Descope describes per-tool authorization at any enforcement point.
