Dynamic Client Registration
In short: Dynamic Client Registration is an OAuth mechanism that lets a client register itself with an authorization server at run time. Earlier MCP versions relied on it, which created many unmanaged clients. The July 2026 MCP specification replaces it with CIMD.
Where does it show up in practice?
Expect older MCP servers to keep supporting it for a while.
